On March 4, 2011, one week before our Quail and Manna “Glory” conference in San Francisco, NASA’s “Glory” satellite failed to reach orbit and ended up in the bottom of the South Pacific.
At the time, we saw this as a failure of man’s glory. NASA is the National Aviation and Space Administration, but whoever named it probably knew that nasa is a Hebrew word that means “lift up” or, as we would say, “lift off.”
https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h5375/kjv/wlc/0-1/
David used this word in Psalm 4:6 in his prayer, “Lift up [nasa] the light of your countenance upon us, O Lord!”
Our Quail and Manna conference was a success, of course, but we did not see the glory of God either—not in its fulness that we wanted. Therefore, the failure of NASA’s “Glory” satellite was an early sign to us that the glory of God was for a future time. Our conference itself was a prayer to see the glory of God, and we know that God will answer that prayer in His own time and manner.
The massive 9 Richter quake off the coast of Japan caused the island to move eight feet. Even so will the nations be moved out of their place when this sign is fulfilled. The resulting tsunami hit the shore of San Francisco a few minutes before our conference began on March 11, 2011. There are always two ways in which such signs should be interpreted, one positive and the other negative (but also positive in the end). This is because the works of God affect people differently, depending on whether they are believers or not.
When God’s glory comes to the earth, it comes as a tsunami, which causes all flesh to tremble in fear. But to those who are prepared for His glory (as with Moses in Exodus 33:18), the glory of God brings transformation and life. God’s glory shines in their face. This is the prayer of the psalmist in Psalm 67:1,
1 God be gracious to us and bless us and cause His face to shine upon us. Selah.
His glory will not shine down from heaven like a spotlight but will shine from the faces of those who manifest His glory. This manifestation comes through the ministry of the angel Peniel, “God’s Face/Presence,” who is also the Angel of Tabernacles.
Recall that in October of 1995 Peniel was released from Japan, the “land of the rising sun.” The angel then appeared to me the same day when the sun rose in North Carolina, where we were having a Tabernacles conference. After Jacob wrestled with Peniel, we read in Genesis 32:31,
31 Now the sun rose upon him just as he crossed over Penuel, and he was limping on his thigh.
The tsunami in 2011 came from Japan to San Francisco, where we were expecting to see the glory of God to be manifested.
The Great Shaking
The glory of God will cause a great shaking in the earth. It will frighten most people, but those who have the seal of God in their foreheads (Revelation 7:3; 22:4) are divinely protected and will manifest the presence of God. Haggai 2:6, 7 says,
6 For thus says the Lord of hosts, “Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. 7 I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord of hosts.
This is explained further in Hebrews 12:25-29. When God shakes “the sea,” tsunamis occur. When God shakes “the dry land,” structures fall. But these physical manifestations are just signs of deeper types of shaking, where governments fall, where financial institutions fail, and where judicial, social, and religious systems collapse.
I expect to see an increase in such signs when the day of judgment arrives. In fact, a great 8 Richter earthquake in the days of Amos brought about the collapse of Israel’s government for a period of about 24 years, and this made them too weak to withstand the Assyrian invasion. When God shook Israel physically, it was a sign of divine judgment soon to come—a greater shaking.
(See Amos, Missionary to Israel, chapter 1.)
At the present time, there is a threat of a tsunami that may come from the Canary Islands. A volcano is threatening to tear apart the island of La Palma. A geologist on the scene says that there is a 50/50 chance that this could happen, sending a huge tsunami across the Atlantic to the east coast of America.
I wonder if we might see a 10-year parallel (Hezekiah Factor) between the two tsunamis—one on the west coast in 2011, and again on the east coast in 2021. If you live in a danger zone, pray about what to do.
Bob Jones Prophecy in 1989
Here is a 28-minute video from Rick Joyner of Morningstar Ministries, telling of a prophecy from Bob Jones in 1989 about a great earthquake that would hit Japan some time in the future. He said that this quake would signify the beginning of an economic meltdown.
When a large earthquake hit Kobe, Japan on January 17, 1995, Bob said that this was not the big one that he had prophesied in 1989. After the quake on March 11, 2011, he told people that this was indeed the one that he had seen.
We often have to piece more than one prophecy together in order to get a full picture, especially when it comes to timing. I believe that the quake in 2011 fulfilled this prophecy from 1989, and that it did signify an economic meltdown; however, the meltdown was reserved for a later time. If the greater shaking is to occur at a second time of shaking (say, in 2021), then it is probable that this would be the actual event causing the meltdown. The important thing, of course, is to know the mind of God and to know that we are in His hands. Then no matter what happens around us, we will continue to walk by faith and not by fear. We will be able to “rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4) while the average person, who lives in darkness, finds no reasons to rejoice.
Always remember that this great shaking is designed to overthrow Babylon, not to shake your foundations. God is setting us free from the captivity of Babylon. The shaking is bad news to the Babylonians but good news for the captives being set free.
Judgment on the Church
1 Peter 4:17 KJV says, “judgment must begin at the house of God.” Judgment does not necessarily mean condemnation. It is simply the decision of the Judge who determines what to do in light of the evidence that has been presented. Some are justified; others are to pay restitution or whatever other judgment is appropriate.
When God judges the church as a whole, He distinguishes between the overcomers and the rest of the church, as we see many times in the message to the Seven Churches (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, etc.). We are admonished, then, to follow God’s leading and to learn His ways, His laws, and His love, so that we may receive His rewards, rather than His disapproval.
In March, 2011, I noticed a pattern:
February 11, 2011—6.8 Richter earthquake in Concepción, Chile.
February 22, 2011—6.3 Richter earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
In early March I did not yet see what might happen on March 22, but I wrote this:
March 11, 2011—9.0 Richter earthquake in Japan (with tsunami)
March 22, 2011?
As it turned out, J. R. Church died a year later on March 22, 2012. As we have often seen, dates tend to overlap from one year to another. In this case, the sign we were expecting in 2011 came in 2012.

God often uses names as signs of the times. In this case, it appears that J. R. Church represented the church as a whole, and that his “unexpected death” on March 22, 2011 ran parallel to the earthquake in Christchurch a month earlier. If men understood sign language, they would view this as a call to repentance within the church itself. They would also connect this call to the great shaking that was seen in both Concepción and in Japan.
We have yet to see how this may be fulfilled in 2021 after our Call to Repentance on September 28.
