The Prince of Persia has a long history. His name is Abaddon in Hebrew and Apollyon in Greek. Abaddon means “destruction,” and is from the word abad, “perish, vanish, go astray, be destroyed.” The word is used in Jeremiah 50:6, “My people have become lost sheep.”
The Greek equivalent, Apollyon, means the same thing. On a national level, it does not necessarily mean death but “to lose.” The root is apollymi, “to lose, be lost, perish, ruin.” The word is used in Matthew 10:6, “go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
The nation of Israel had been killed and no longer existed, but the sheep were merely lost. The Prince of Persia’s job was to destroy the House of Israel and to lose the sheep, so they might follow the example of Joseph, who was lost in Egypt. Joseph’s son, Manasseh, means “causing to forget” because God had caused him to forget his father’s house (Genesis 41:51). This prophesied of his descendants who too would forget their origin and their identity.
The Holy Spirit Counterfeit
In southern Iran (Persia), on the north end of the Persian Gulf, near the Iraqi border, is the city of Abadon. It is where British Petroleum discovered oil in 1910. Just offshore is the largest oil refinery in the world. Abadon is known for its crude oil, which, in biblical symbolism, should be contrasted with olive oil. Crude oil represents a Holy Spirit counterfeit. Hence Abaddon’s job is to create counterfeits of the Holy Spirit in order to lead people astray and thus “lose” them.
In order to see the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the end of the age, we have had to deal first with Abaddon. Revivals in the past have gradually brought specific revelatory truth to those who had ears to hear, but those revivals were limited, and the move of the Spirit was temporary. This is because Abaddon/Apollyon still held power in the second heavens. So the revivalists were able to win the battle but not the war.
I do not know how this “bear” was bound when I first saw him in March 1986, but my angel (Peniel) somehow was instrumental in this. I came to understand that Apollyon and Peniel are what I call “natural enemies.” By this I mean that Peniel is the particular angel who is called to bind Apollyon. They have the same rank in the spirit, though they are on opposite sides.
The same is true with Michael and the Red Dragon, as we see in Revelation 12:7. No angel other than Michael has the calling to overthrow the Red Dragon, though others certainly may assist, as we see in Daniel 10:20, 21. In that case, Peniel needed the assistance of Michael in fighting the Prince of Persia. Peniel and Michael are natural friends.
The spiritual battle in Daniel 10 has been fought for many centuries up to the present time. Because it is fought outside the realm of time, when we engage in spiritual warfare, we fight alongside of Daniel and his angel (Michael). It is the same battle to overcome the beast nations, one at a time.
Praying for Revival
Having gone into Cursed Time on September 2, 1986, God would not allow me to do the work of praying for revival at that time. Instead, God sent a man to Batesville to do that work. His name was Jimmy Melton. I learned of his mission to “pray for revival in the streets of Batesville” on October 6, and I met with him personally two days later.
He told me that he planned to announce these meetings on October 12, and the first actual meeting occurred on Thursday evening, October 16. (By Hebrew time, this was the start of October 17. Remember that date, because 31 years later, in 2017, the Dominion Mandate was taken from the beast nations and given to the saints of the Most High.)
We met every Thursday evening for the next five months. More than forty people attended the first meetings, but the numbers gradually dwindled down until only three remained by the following March. I was the only one who never missed a meeting. To me, it was a revelation and a calling, so it held top priority in my life.
The prayer for revival seemed to end in failure, and Jimmy Melton was quite discouraged when he saw how his fellow Charismatics lacked endurance. But the Charismatic Movement was still derived from the feast of Pentecost, and we were still living in the last years of the reign of “Saul.” But at the time, none of us understood this. Neither did we know that we had just entered the 120th Jubilee Year from Adam.
The Jubilee Year
On the Creation Jubilee calendar, 1986 was a Sabbath year leading to the 120th Jubilee from Adam. In other words, it was a 49th year leading to the 50th year that began on Rosh Hoshana, October 4, 1986. The trumpet for the Jubilee was to be blown on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which fell on October 13.
I did not receive the revelation of timing until 1991, so I was unaware that the “trumpet” was to be blown on October 13, 1986. As far as I know, no one had been given this revelation, and so no one had the authority to declare the Jubilee by faith. Faith comes by hearing, and therefore, if God does not speak, no one can hear and obey by faith.
As I look back on the events of those days, I wonder what might have happened differently if I had been obedient in leaving the Net of Prayer by the deadline on September 2, 1986. I realize, of course, that God had planned ahead, and that this delay was all part of the divine plan. Nonetheless, it is often helpful to ask, “What if?” That is how we learn the lessons that we ought to know, so that we understand the mind of God.
If I had been obedient, I would have entered into my “restoration” ministry at that time. God would not have had to send another man to Batesville to pray for revival. Perhaps I would have been given the revelation of timing and would have blown the Jubilee trumpet at the appointed time. Yet at the same time, I realize that this was still too early, because “Saul” still reigned for another seven years. The Jubilee Year could not be proclaimed while under Pentecost.
Though I had violated the will (thelema) of God, I could not resist His plan (boulema). The plan, I learned later, was to declare the Jubilee ten years later in 1996. God would turn the clock back ten “degrees” as in the days of Hezekiah, so that the 1996 declaration could be applied to 1986.
God had already accounted for my disobedience and had set His plan from the beginning that would lead to ultimate victory. It is good to know that the will of man cannot defeat the plan of God. The plan itself calls for delays. We may violate His will, which is His law (Romans 2:18), but the plan is the blueprint for creation that was drawn up from the beginning. Hence, Pharaoh could refuse to fulfill the will (thelema) of God by refusing to let Israel go, but in doing so, he fulfilled the plan of God. So Paul asked, “Who can resist His boulema?” (Romans 9:19).
The Bear Released During Ramadan
My friend in Arkansas, James Wilson, was the first to see the bear released. He saw this in a vision on July 11, 1986. Yet the bear had been released toward the end of May in that year during the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The Iran-Contra scandal during the Reagan administration was just being implemented, though the story did not break until November. Behind the scenes, Oliver North and Robert McFarlane visited Iran on May 25, 1986 to work out a deal to funnel money to the Contras in Nicaragua.
James described the bear to me. It had human teeth, rather than the usual bear teeth. While listening, I had a quick flash where I saw that the bear had a gold tooth. It seems that this bear had been to a dentist. As we will see later, the “bear” was a manifestation of General Norman Schwartzkopf, who led the Gulf War a few years later from his “dungeon” in Saudi Arabia. His troops called him “the bear,” on account of his size.
We learned this from a Special Report from NBC news after the conclusion of the war.
When the angel took me to the dungeon in Saudi Arabia in March 1986, I did not realize that the “bear” would manifest as a man—General Schwartzkopf, whose smile would reveal a gold tooth.
From 1986-1988 we received revelation now and then about the nature of the bear and how it affected the church and the earth as a whole. During that time, the bear ran loose, allowing him to implement his plan for war and thus fulfill the word of the angel, who had called it “the beast of war.”
As we will see later, God allowed us to recapture the bear on August 3, 1988 in a prayer campaign called “These Stones.” A year later on the same date the bear had to be released, due to “sin in the camp.” The final countdown began toward war. The next year on the same date, the night of August 2/3, 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, and the Gulf War began.
