Last August, I took my wife to Mexico to get stem cell treatments, hoping that this would heal her hip and thereby avoid hip replacement surgery. They told us that it would be six months before we might expect to see results.
Well, by mid-February the six months were completed, and her hip only continued to get worse. So we made an appointment for February 17 to see a doctor specializing in such surgery. He took an x-ray and, of course, recommended surgery. I will be taking her to the hospital for surgery on Monday, March 16.
The good news (I think) is that her other hip actually seems to be healing. Last August the x-ray showed that her other hip was deteriorating and would also need to be replaced at some point. However, the x-ray in February showed no such deterioration, and the doctor used it as an example of what the other ought to look like! He had no criticism of that hip at all.
So it appears that the stem cells first went to the right hip, looked around, and said, “Too far gone!” They went over to the left hip and said, “This we can deal with!”
I’m not sure about the exact quote, but that is at least a paraphrased version.
We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. Monday. I will stay there during the surgery and do not expect to be doing a weblog that day. I will probably take her home the next day (Tuesday), so I am not sure if I will be doing a weblog that day either.
Just to let you know.
Thanks for your prayers.
