Another manufactured hate crime was discovered last week, this time done by a former NFL star, who trashed his own restaurants and wrote “MAGA” and other racial epithets on the walls to make it look like the president’s supporters were hatemongers.
Former NFL star Edawn Coughman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of vandalizing his own restaurants.
Coughman, 31, was reportedly discovered as the perpetrator of two attacks on local restaurants in Gwinette County, Georgia, owned by the former NFL offensive tackle.
After witnesses described an act of vandalism at one of his restaurants, Coughman was reportedly arrested in a suspicious vehicle with a crowbar and other items consistent with the crime for which he was being charged.
Police alleged that Coughman scrawled "MAGA" and racial epithets on the walls of his businesses, alleging that he was trying to collect on an insurance scam by staging a hate crime.
On January 29, 2019 Jussie Smollett faked a hate crime in the attempt to implicate the president’s supporters. When the press arrived the next day, he was still wearing a hangman’s noose around his neck to dramatize the show.
It only took a few days for police to discover that Smollett had paid two Nigerian brothers to help him with the “attack.”
Well, it’s over for Jussie Smollett. His tale of a racially motivated attack on January 29 led to the liberal media jumping the gun. The tale quickly fell apart, and now he’s being formally charged for orchestrating his own hate crime by the Chicago Police Department. Smollett, an actor of the Fox series “Empire,” alleged that two white men assaulted him on that freezing cold night, punching him, poured bleach on him, and then put a rope around his neck.
As it turned out, it was two Nigerian brothers, Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo, who knew the actor. One was his former personal trainer while the other was an extra on the show. They allegedly were paid by Smollett, had rehearsed the so-called assault, and even bought the rope used in the fake assault.
Surveillance footage was released today showing the brothers buying the supplies used in the faux hate crime. As Beth noted earlier, Smollett was also not seen as the victim anymore by police, but a suspect in this incident.
If the media were really correct in asserting that there has been an increase in hate crimes since Trump began running for office, why do they need to conjure up these fake incidents? One would think that the “real” hate crimes would be sufficient to prove their point. Obviously, they can’t find enough real hate crimes to make their case believable.
On the other hand, what about all the attacks on people wearing MAGA hats? And is it not a hate crime in itself to stage a fake hate crime?
