On February 5, 2019 President Trump gave his State of the Union speech before Congress. In his speech he stated: “America will never be a Socialist country. We were born free, and we will stay free.”
The cameras were then directed at Bernie Sanders, the avowed Socialist, who was visibly angered by Trump’s statement. But the statement was also directed at Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, who has openly called for Socialism through her “Green Dream.” She wants to raise taxes to 70 percent, to rebuild every building in America on a “green” model, to ground all aircraft, and even to prevent cows from the gaseous results of flatulence, which may cause global warming.
Yet the fact is that most western countries, including America, are already Socialist countries—some more than others. Socialism was the model chosen by Mystery Babylon to replace our Christian Republic as established by the Declaration of Independence and its Constitution. That changeover began in earnest after 1933. European nations became Socialistic more quickly with tax rates from 60 to 80 percent. America has proven to be somewhat more resistant to Socialism.
Trump’s second statement, “We were born free, and we will stay free,” made Trump’s view clear that Socialism is the opposite of freedom. In fact, Karl Marx set forth Socialism as the path toward Communism, which was his ideal. Western nations have adopted nearly his entire platform, while still claiming to be “free.”
The law of God reads, in part, “You shall not steal.” The law is the expression of the nature of God Himself, and when we do not steal, we are imitating Him. When the law of God is written on our hearts, we fulfill the law perfectly, not out of compulsion but by nature. But Socialist governments reject the law of God and the rule of Jesus Christ. They believe that it is a good thing to steal a man’s labor and to give it to those in need.
Most of the world believes this as well—especially if they are the ones “in need” who hope to benefit from the Socialist ideal. Theft has always been a way of life for the lawless ones, and this is one of the main reasons why societies have remained in poverty and bondage for thousands of years. High taxation provides little or no incentive to produce useful things, unless one is able to gain political power with its ability to tax others and to spend other people’s money.
Throughout history, if a man became wealthy through legitimate labor, he had to spend a lot of money on security in order to keep others from stealing his property. Such insecurity in one’s labor and possessions made it nearly impossible for societies to progress and develop. Many societies believed that it was a virtue to steal as much as they could from others in order to benefit their extended families.
Hence, Socialism is not really a new idea. It is relatively new to western Christian nations and is now the philosophy of choice to Pope Francis, who does not seem to understand the difference between voluntarily helping the poor and being forced to do so through government theft.
In the big fight over immigration, neither the media nor the politicians themselves have said much about the reason why we developed immigration laws in the first place. America’s form of government was unique, because it was based on the Protestant Reformers’ view of the “law of liberty” (James 2:12). Liberty is rooted in the law of God, and so lawlessness (anomia) can only led to slavery.
In America, government power was limited and was to be the servant of the people. The problem was that immigrants usually arrived from countries that had no such biblical foundations, and the people usually had very little concept of biblical liberty. They all desired to be free, but the laws of God that guaranteed such freedom were new to them—especially “Thou shalt not steal.”
The law of the world allows theft if you can get away with it, or if someone has something that I need or want, or if someone has more property than I do. Theft is a way of equalizing wealth, or, as Socialist governments would call it, “redistributing wealth.” Governments love to have the power to steal men’s labor, because this gives them the assumed right to enslave the people.
In the past, when these new immigrants came to America, they were required to study our Constitution and our form of government before being granted citizenship. This was done because it was evident that if immigrants were granted the right to vote without understanding the right to be secure in their property, they would soon vote themselves the right to steal other people’s property and to violate any divine law that they chose.
For this reason also, schools taught Civics, which informed them about the American form of government. The Socialists eliminated Civics as soon as they could, knowing that this would stand as a barrier to the new Socialist world order. At the mission school in the Philippines, we were taught Civics in 8th grade, but when I arrived back in America in the mid-1960’s, Civics had already been dropped from the curriculum.
So we now have a generation of voters who think that Socialism is the form of government guaranteed by the American Constitution. That is the backdrop to the current immigration dispute. The Democratic Party is pushing for all immigrants to be granted voting rights as soon as they arrive, whether they came legally or illegally. This push is designed to ensure that the Socialists remain in power through the votes of the people.
So when President Trump announces that America will never be a Socialist country, it is not exactly true. We are already far along the way to being a Socialist country. If he means that the Socialists will never succeed in turning America into a fully-Socialist country, then I hope he is right. In fact, I believe he is right, because Mystery Babylon is now falling. That is why the advocates of Mystery Babylon are so frightened and are pulling out all stops in their efforts to entrench Socialism into the Constitution itself.
Here is an article from The American Thinker that is quite revealing. It is written by a former Peace Corp worker who learned a lot from her work in Senegal. Having grown up in America, she had assumed that everyone around the world thinks the same and that the Golden Rule was self-evident in every society. She discovered for herself how wrong she was.
As a twenty-one-year-old starting out in the Peace Corps, I loved Senegal. In fact, I was euphoric. I quickly made friends and had an adopted family. I relished the feeling of the brotherhood of man. People were open, willing to share their lives and, after they knew you, their innermost thoughts.
The longer I lived there, the more I understood: it became blindingly obvious that the Senegalese are not the same as us. The truths we hold to be self-evident are not evident to the Senegalese. How could they be? Their reality is totally different. You can't understand anything in Senegal using American terms.
Take something as basic as family. Family was a few hundred people, extending out to second and third cousins….
The Ten Commandments were not disobeyed – they were unknown. The value system was the exact opposite. You were supposed to steal everything you can to give to your own relatives. There are some Westernized Africans who try to rebel against the system. They fail.
We hear a lot about the kleptocratic elites of Africa. The kleptocracy extends through the whole society. My town had a medical clinic donated by international agencies. The medicine was stolen by the medical workers and sold to the local store. If you were sick and didn't have money, drop dead. That was normal.
So here in the States, when we discovered that my 98-year-old father's Muslim health aide from Nigeria had stolen his clothes and wasn't bathing him, I wasn't surprised. It was familiar.
In Senegal, corruption ruled, from top to bottom. Go to the post office, and the clerk would name an outrageous price for a stamp. After paying the bribe, you still didn't know it if it would be mailed or thrown out. That was normal….
We think the Protestant work ethic is universal. It's not. My town was full of young men doing nothing. They were waiting for a government job. There was no private enterprise. Private business was not illegal, just impossible, given the nightmare of a third-world bureaucratic kleptocracy. It is also incompatible with Senegalese insistence on taking care of relatives.
All the little stores in Senegal were owned by Mauritanians. If a Senegalese wanted to run a little store, he'd go to another country. The reason? Your friends and relatives would ask you for stuff for free, and you would have to say yes. End of your business. You are not allowed to be a selfish individual and say no to relatives. The result: Everyone has nothing.
The more I worked there and visited government officials doing absolutely nothing, the more I realized that no one in Senegal had the idea that a job means work. A job is something given to you by a relative. It provides the place where you steal everything to give back to your family.
I couldn't wait to get home. So why would I want to bring Africa here? Non-Westerners do not magically become American by arriving on our shores with a visa.
The bottom line is that the foundations of freedom and prosperity in America are built upon Scripture as understood by the Protestant Reformers. Others want to benefit from our freedom and to participate in our prosperity, but if they bring their former thinking to our shores, they will inadvertently turn America into the very thing that they tried to escape. Our values are not universally understood. And when the government of Mystery Babylon tells them that freedom can be maintained through other religious philosophies, they undermine the uniqueness of the American model in the history of the world.
In the end, Socialism can gain power only as biblical Christianity is eliminated. The two systems are diametrically opposed to each other, for one is based on the security of one’s labor, while the other is based on theft.
