I have often said that Christians are the funniest people on earth. Here is an example of a “prophet” who did not know the Scriptures very well.
A self-styled Christian prophet reportedly tried to prove himself by charging lions at Kruger National Park in South Africa, under the belief that God would intervene.
Instead of being prevented from attacking Alec Ndiwane, one of the lions tore a piece out of his rear end.
Ndiwane is expected to recover.
He should have read the story of Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness. Matthew 4:5-7 says,
5 Then the devil took Him into the holy city; and he had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels charge concerning You’; and ‘On their hands they will bear You up, lest You strike Your foot against a stone’.” 7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test’.”
It is not right to jump off a cliff and expect God to catch you. Neither should you charge a pride of lions eating an impala and expect God to deliver you.
In fact, the Lord did deliver Mr. Ndiwane of his ill-conceived opinion, along with “a piece out of his rear end.” We might expect the same kind of deliverance if we manifest the same stupidity.
