Last evening Darla and I attended a meeting to hear Dr. Tim Atkinson teach about breaking curses, contracts, and covenants from the past. Such hindrances can affect our daily lives, whether we made them inadvertently early in life or even if our fathers made them in past generations. We were shown how so often we believe one thing but our subconscious inner man disagrees and works to sabotage the things we do in life.
He also had a workbook (as a guide) to search out and break these curses, so that our inner man may be set free and come into alignment and agreement with our conscious beliefs and actions. These past curses and contracts, of course, affect us emotionally and are often the hidden roots of emotional and spiritual issues that cause us to fail in life.
The Contract of Fear
While Tim was speaking, I thought of the covenant that God made with Israel under Moses in Exodus 19 and 20. On that occasion God sought to speak to the people directly, but they were too afraid to hear His voice (Exodus 20:18-21). Their fear was rooted in the sin of Adam, which caused the “old man” to manifest fear rather than faith (Genesis 3:10). This same fear of God’s presence showed up at Mount Sinai in the days of Moses.
We know from New Testament teaching that the same death curse upon Adam has been passed down to all of us (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22). This “self” which we received by natural childbirth was sentenced to death, and this death sentence cannot be revoked.
But God has set up a plan of salvation by which we may come into immortality. This plan calls for a “new man” that must be begotten in us by the Holy Spirit, and when we identify with that new man—Christ in you—then we transfer our identity from the first Adam to the Last Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-47).
This is not done genetically, but spiritually—that is, legally, because “the law is spiritual” (Romans 7:14). The primary Law of Sonship is given in Deuteronomy 25:5-10, where we see how God provided sons to be begotten through adoption. Jesus was not ashamed to call us brethren (Hebrews 2:12-17), and since He died childless, His brethren are called to raise up seed for Him.
The Law of Sonship tells us that we are begotten by the gospel, which is the “seed” of the word (1 Peter 1:23-25), by the agency of the Holy Spirit. Most translations obscure this great truth by translating gennao as “born again” rather than as “begotten from above.” The word gennao means both, but depends on the context, whether it applies to a man or a woman. Men beget; women give birth. Peter was talking about being begotten by the “seed” of the word.
Those who identify with their natural, biological, genealogical heritage are declaring before God and men that their true identity is found in the old Adamic man. Their belief is that the old man is yet called to fulfill the promises to become the sons of God. Such people need a new identity in Christ, the Last Adam.
When Israel arrived at Mount Sinai to receive God’s covenant and to be formed into the first Kingdom of God, the people were not ready for such a close relationship with God. They were bound by a fear of death (Exodus 20:19), which means they were still identifying themselves with the old Adam. They apparently knew nothing about the new man, for although the revelation of sonship was built into the law, no one understood it until Christ came as the great Example of Sonship. Begotten by the Holy Spirit, He was the visible manifestation of a new identity, a new man which had no earthly father.
So Israel remained in fear and refused to enter into the direct, personal relationship as sons of God. As an alternate, they received what we call the Old Covenant, whereby the laws of the Kingdom were commands given to discipline the old man and regulate his behavior from the outside.
If they had been able to hear God’s voice on that first Pentecost at the base of the mount, they would have received the Spirit and would have been begotten by the seed of God. But this was postponed for a later day, first the natural and then the spiritual. Under the New Covenant 1480 years later, the disciples received this new identity, and the law became a set of promises given to the new man. The fiery law itself set forth the divine standard of the measure of the stature of Christ, and so each law prophesied of the perfect character and nature of the new man.
Whereas the Old Covenant had commanded the old man to conform to the image of Christ, the New Covenant was the promise of God to cause us to be like Christ. The Old Covenant was man’s vow to God (Exodus 19:8); the New Covenant was God’s vow, oath, and promise to man (Deuteronomy 29:12, 13). It is not possible for men (in the ultimate sense) to keep their vows to God. But God is well able to keep His vows to men.
The promise of God was kept when He sent the Holy Spirit to beget Christ in us (Luke 24:49), for that was the New Covenant manner of salvation. This begetting did not benefit the old man directly, but engendered an entirely new entity as “the real you.” God fulfilled His word according to the Law of Sonship, bypassing genealogy from Adam and making it a lawful (spiritual) process known as adoption.
These concepts are the deep things of God, which carnal minds neither agree with nor understand (1 Corinthians 2:10, 14). The carnal mind fights for dominance, because it does not want to be displaced by the true Heir.
The Timing
Last evening, as I contemplated these things, I discerned that there was more to this meeting than was evident on the surface. First of all, it was the evening of November 13, which, by Hebrew time, was the beginning of November 14, 2014. This date was almost precisely 1480 years since Justinian’s alteration of Roman law was published. In other words, we had reached another endpoint in the time allotted to the “little horn” of Daniel 7:25. The laws of the little horn had been published (decreed) on November 16, 534 A.D.

Those laws (canon law of the church) had reached the end of their mandate and needed to be nullified and replaced by the actual law of God—not man’s understanding of the law.
So I put out this discernment to the others at the meeting, and they all confirmed that we had been given the authority to make this decree. All of them heard God for themselves, and so as a group we put together the wording for the decree and signed it.
The Decree
ON THIS DAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2014, WE DO HEREBY DECREE THAT WE BREAK DISSOLVE NULLIFY THE CONTRACT THAT WAS WRITTEN AND DECLARED BY THE LITTLE HORN, JUSTINIAN, THE CONSTITUTIONS THAT WERE PUBLISHED IN 534 AD.
