The most damaging element of Christian Zionism is that its prophetic outlook claims that in the Age to come the entire Old Covenant sacrificial system will be re-established in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. This would not be damaging if Christians understood that Christ is our true Sacrifice and has replaced animals for all time. But unfortunately, they teach that the “Age of Grace” was a temporary interruption of the TRUE form of worship. Hence, when this Age ends, Christ will come and take up residence in a physical temple in Jerusalem, leading Levitical priests in worship and in animal sacrifice.
I can understand why religious Jews would want to reinstitute animal sacrifice. That is, after all, the basic tenet of Old Covenant religion. I am less sympathetic with Christians who support this and who believe that Christianity will soon be abolished in favor of a messiah who is the new head of the Old Covenant temple worship.
Today it was announced that a red heifer has been located in America, and its owner intends to raise it according to Jewish standards so that it can be sacrificed as a burnt offering to provide “the ashes of a red heifer” for the resumption of temple worship.
The article and video above implies that the owner of this heifer is a Christian rancher and feels blessed to be able to provide such a service.
In the video it is said that “the ashes of the red heifer is the secret of restoration of purity in the world.” Really? Is that what Christian Zionists support? I thought we were clean through the word which was spoken to us (from Jesus). I suggest that these Old Covenant Christians re-read the book of Hebrews, particularly Hebrews 9:11-14,
11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Verse 11 says that “Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come.” Earlier, in Hebrews 7:12-18, we are told that Christ was NOT of the Levitical Order.
12 For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also. 13 For the one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. 15 And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek.
This is a better, or superior, priesthood, unlike that of the past. The priests of Levi were mortal, but ours is Immortal. Christians seem unaware that the Jews plan on having a different messiah, one who is descended from Levi. Their entire religious plan is to displace Jesus as the Christ and to destroy Christianity and the New Covenant which has replaced the Old Covenant and the old system of worship.
Why would Christians support such an antichrist system? The only answer is blindness.
Christian Zionism is the great apostasy in the last days. It supports the very system that stood in opposition to Christ since the first century. When the Jews found that they could not destroy Christianity outright, they devised a theory of prophecy that allowed for Christianity as a temporary concession in the plan of God, but which would—in the end—revert back to animal sacrifice, revert back to the Levitical priesthood, revert back to the Old Covenant, revert back to God dwelling in buildings made of wood and stone.
Yet they accuse me of teaching “replacement theology.” Yes, of course, Christ replaced goats, lambs, and red heifers. Yes, the true Temple of God is made of living stones that are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:20, 21). Yes, the Levitical priesthood has been replaced by Melchizedek. Yes, Jesus replaced Moses as the Mediator of a New Covenant. I openly teach this, and I challenge any Christian to refute me using the Book of Hebrews.
Christian Zionists are the ones who are trying to replace the New Covenant with the Old. This has been antichrist since the beginning. They refuse to see their animal sacrifices as mere types and shadows. They think these are the real and the permanent forms of worship that God requires. They think the New Covenant is a temporary innovation between the first and second coming of Christ. I can understand Jews believing this—or at least presenting this to Christians as a transition back to Judaism—but should Christians believe this???
Paul had a lot to say about this, which is why Jews hate Paul even more than they hate Jesus. And their hatred has influenced the Church through Christian Zionism in the past century and a half.
If the Jews do indeed build a temple in Jerusalem and sacrifice a red heifer and “purify” the vessels that they have constructed for worship, this in itself will be antichrist. What is most astounding, perhaps, is that Christian Zionists teach openly that “The Antichrist” will take over and preside over the temple worship for a number of years (either 3½ years or 7 years). Christians have funded this temple construction dozens of times over since the 1950’s, but they still ask for contributions. But I say let the Antichrist pay for his own temple.
Christian Zionists, however, are willing to fund the Antichrist and his system of worship, and they are even zealous to push the world into war with Israel, in hopes that this will force Jesus to return sooner and save the day. Christian Zionist leaders in America are quite vocal about this. They side with the most radical Jews they can find in order to start the Tribulation. Why? Because they equate the start of Tribulation with the “rapture.” No matter that they believe that millions of Jews will be slaughtered in this war. As long as they can watch the tribulation from the safety of heaven, they care for no one else, not even Jews. Only the “144,000” matter to them, for they believe that only that small number will survive this tribulation (out of about 50 million Jews in the world today).
In other words, Christian Zionists are thinking that less than 3/10 of one percent of the world Jews today will survive this Tribulation. So what do they do? They pay to send more Jews into the slaughterhouse as immigrants to Israel. This smacks of mental illness, not Christianity. Such Christians pretend to love Jews, but in fact, by their own view of prophecy, they are “lovingly” sending them to almost certain death.
Fortunately for both Jews and Christians, the prophetic viewpoint of Christian Zionists is not true. It is not what God has in mind. These people think that Christ will come and save Jerusalem at the last minute, after most of world Jewry has been slaughtered. Both views are wrong. Most of world Jewry will survive, but Jerusalem will certainly be destroyed, as Jeremiah 19:11 prophesies, and it will never again be rebuilt. Isaiah 29:1-6 prophesies how God will lay siege to “Ariel,” the poetic name for Jerusalem. Verses 5 and 6 seem to describe a nuclear war. Such a war would certainly explain Jeremiah 19:11 that says Jerusalem will never again be rebuilt. Nuclear fallout would render the place uninhabitable for a very long time.
But only those Jews who stand in harm’s way (near Jerusalem and the state itself) will face potential harm. The vast bulk of world Jewry, which has voted against Zionism by remaining in other nations, will survive.
From a more spiritual standpoint, the Old Covenant (pictured as Hagar in Galatians 4) and her “children” (those who consider Jerusalem to be their “mother”) will be cast out.
What remains to be seen today is if this newly-found red heifer will spark a war over the temple mount. This little calf might be the occasion of a bloodbath. In this way, it may indeed be a time marker of the end of the Israeli state and of Jerusalem itself. Jerusalem has become part of Babylon (Revelation 11:8), which is to be overthrown shortly, even as God overthrew Sodom and Egypt in times past.
This may be the climax of tribulation (2014-2017), as I have explained in other articles, but the tribulation began 2,620 years earlier in 607-604 B.C. We are now at the end of the beast nations as described in Daniel 7. Babylon is about to fall.
