Here is a short but interesting three-minute video saying that the Philippines is the biblical land of Ophir, where Solomon got his gold to build his temple in Jerusalem. The Spanish apparently believed this, and they were interested in obtaining more gold when Magellan arrived in 1521. Certainly, Ophir is in that area of the world.
