Here is an article from All Iraq news reporting the results of today's meeting between Kuwait's al-Sabah and Iraq's al-Maliki. After signing six agreements, there are apparently no further issues to resolve, because they are now heading to the UN to give Ban Ki-Moon the completed file. These are the agreements that had to be in place before the Security Council could officially release Iraq from the sanctions of Chapter VII.
Other reports say that the Security Council is meeting June 14, and the General Assembly will meet June 27. Presumably these are the dates that we should watch in regard to this release from Chapter VII.
Baghdad (AIN) -The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zebari, announced that both the Iraq and Kuwait’s representatives headed to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to present him the file of relieving Iraq from the burdens of the 7th Chapter of UN Charter.
In a joint press conference with his Kuwaiti Counterpart, Subah Khalid al-Subah, Zebari said “Both of Iraq and Kuwait’s representatives will request the UNSG to relieve Iraq from the 7th Chapter.” /End/
