I thought it would be helpful to step back and look once again at the big picture in regard to the connection between the barley and the Mississippi River.
On April 15, 2007 the group from Sacramento, CA came to Minnesota, and we made our first trip to the headwaters of the Mississippi River, "The River of the Holy Spirit," as it was called on the old Spanish maps. The main purpose of this was to pray and declare the Holy Spirit to be sent out into the world in the Open Door Ministry.
There was no barley used at this time.
Six months later, in September of 2007, we went to Hawaii for our Tabernacles conference, where the revelation was given about the prophetic birth of "Elijah" (or "John the Baptist"). Further revelation from Oklahoma Bob showed that this would be relevant a year later, that is, at Tabernacles of 2008.
Tabernacles of 2008 was the first of the meetings held at Sweetwater, TN, not far from the headquarters of the army that had directed the "Trail of Tears" in the 1830's, moving Native Americans to Oklahoma. Three couples were led to "reverse the curse" by driving from Oklahoma to Sweetwater, planting barley along the way. This barley work began at the Mississippi River at West Memphis, Arkansas, on October 16, 2008 where they were led to cast barley into the river.
Keep in mind that this was a trip to SWEETWATER. We related it to the story in Exodus 15:23-26, where the bitter waters were made sweet by the use of a "tree." This prophesied of the cross of Christ which is the antidote to heart bitterness. That much we saw at the time. What we did not see was that this would have a secondary application to the Gulf of Mexico. The waters of the Gulf would also have to be made "sweet."
This was the first indication of barley being put into the Mississippi River in a prophetic act. The barley they used came from Minnesota. A local friend had grown barley in a field, and after the harvest, he brought a tithe of it to the meetings to give bags of it freely to whoever wanted it. This was the source of the barley being used. It was barley dedicated to God as a tithe.
So in Sweetwater, when they told me the story of planting barley along the way, I immediately knew that the Elijah Ministry would have to wait for this barley to "ripen." In other words, instead of Elijah being raised up in October of 2008, we would have to wait until April of 2009.
In the intervening months, however, the revelation progressed, and we came to understand that this was more than just an Elijah Ministry. It was an Elisha Ministry, because we were now in the time of the second work of Christ. Elijah came in the form of John the Baptist to prepare the way for Christ's FIRST work. But today it is Elisha who comes to prepare the way for Christ's SECOND Work.
We met for Passover of 2009 at Manassas, VA, where I was led to proclaim the start of the Elisha Ministry. This was April 12, 2009.
We then began to see the steady fulfillment of the miracle-signs of Elisha. The actual miracles of Elisha proved to be prophetic patterns of things that would be seen one after another. At the present time, we have completed eight of these signs (half of the 16 total).
The eighth sign, of course, was to cast barley meal into the pot (cauldron) to overcome "death in the pot." We understood the "pot" to be the Gulf Basin, which has "death" in it, due to the oil volcano that flowed into it since April 20. We cast barley meal into the headwaters of the Mississippi River on July 9, 2010 in order to fulfill this eighth sign of Elisha.
144 hours later the oil spill was capped.
This was the second time that barley had been used prophetically in the Mississippi River. The first was on October 16, 2008, where whole grain was used, because it was to "plant the seed." On the second occasion on July 9, 2010, the source of the barley was from the same tithed crop of grain given in 2008, but this time it was ground to a fine powder as barley meal.
The progression indicates that God has not only raised up a barley company, but that He has also ground it to "meal," that it could be used as "bread of life" to feed the multitude. Being cast into the Mississipp River indicates that the barley company is carried by the Holy Spirit. Even the number 144 is the numeric value of "Lazarus," pointing to those who are being raised from the dead. In other words, we must be willing to be broken bread in order to feed the multitude.
So the "death in the pot" was overcome by Elisha, and in Jesus' day, they gathered up the fragments so that nothing was lost. Both are resurrection signs. One must be personally (internally) raised from the dead before one is able to pass on that blessing to others in any work of ministry. The Open Door Ministry is the work of bringing life to the rest of the world, but one must first have a resurrection-life experience to offer.
There is still further work being done with barley. A friend from Kansas came to the headwaters to witness the barley meal on July 9. Afterward, he drove south to the Gulf Coast with barley meal to do further prophetic work. I have not heard back from him yet, but you should know that there are others who are experienced in this type of work.
In summary, then, we started with the Mississippi having no barley at all in April 2007, but we found a good source of water. Then barley grain was planted in the Mississippi in October 2008 to grow a prophetic crop of barley company who could do the Open Door Ministry. Their own bitter waters would have to be made sweet within their hearts in order to be capable of doing the work of ministering to the world at large.
That barley ripened in April 2009 and began to be ground to meal until it was ready in July 2010 to be cast into the Mississippi to flow by the Spirit into the Gulf Basin to overcome the death in the pot and to make the waters sweet.
