Last year I wrote a series of web logs under the heading, "The Prophetic History of the United States." These are now compiled in a 38-page book by that same title ($3.00 each), and can also be read online free of charge.
In this book I showed the prophetic connection between ancient Israel and the United States. The timing of all of our main historical events proves that this nation is intricately connected to the ancient house of Israel and is, in fact, a physical fulfillment of the prophetic regathering of the House of Israel.
From the beginning of Israel's captivity in 745 B.C., when the first tribes were deported to Assyria, to the year 1776 A.D., when America was founded, was precisely 2,520 years. This is 7 x 360 years. A comparison of Daniel 7:25 and Rev. 13:5 shows that three-and-a-half "times" is equal to 42 months, or three-and-a-half years of 360 prophetic days each.
This is also the time period of 1,260 "days" (Rev. 11:2, 3), which in long term prophecy indicates 1,260 YEARS.
Twice this is the full "seven times," or 2 x 1,260, which totals 2,520 days or years.
This number 2,520 is one of the most important prophetic time periods in long-term history, for we see much of America's history linked to ancient Israel according to that cycle. Our founding in 1776 was precisely 2,520 years after the beginning of Israel's demise. Our capital in Washington D.C. was built in 1800, precisely 2,520 years after Israel's capital (Samaria) was destroyed in 721 B.C.
The odds of this happening by accident are quite slim. When we understand that "seven times" was the judgment of God against Israel (Lev. 26:18, 21, 24, 28), and then see how Daniel used it as a revelation of time, it becomes clear that America was founded precisely at the end of Israel's time of judgment and dispersion. And America's capital was built precisely at the end of Samaria's destruction and time of desolation.
Like ancient Israel, which had 13 tribes (including Levi), America had 13 colonies. We now stand at 50, the number of Jubilee.
My point here is to show Israel's advantage in that God used the physical descendants of those dispersed Israelites to establish this nation at that precise time in history when Israel's time of judgment was completed. The prophetic regathering of the house of Israel did not occur in 1948, but in 1776.
The founding of the Israeli state in 1948 fulfilled an entirely different set of biblical prophecies regarding Judah and Edom, as I explained in my book, The Struggle for the Birthright. In fact, 1948 was 6 x 414 years after the destruction of Babylon in 537 B.C. Thus, the Israeli state is more connected to the regathering of Babylon than to the regathering of Israel.
In both cases, however, one thing is clear. God is still dealing with physical nations. He is not merely concerned with spiritual things. Yet in both cases, the key idea is OPPORTUNITY. America was givenopportunity to establish the Kingdom of God, and many of our leaders and preachers in the late 1700's envisioned this very thing. They started out very optimistic, but as time passed, the defects of human nature, the compromises, and unbiblical legislation dashed their hopes to the ground.
The problem was not only that there were too many non-Christians, but that the Christians themselves still retained their human nature. Too many did not really understand the mind of God in their interpretation of Scripture. Most prominent in this, of course, was the issue of slavery. From the very beginning, in order to get the southern states to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the anti-slavery comments had to be deleted. The problem did not go away in later years, but festered until the Civil War--and beyond.
Another big issue was our nations' treatment of the Native Americans. They seemed to think they had only two options: genocide or treaties that would be ignored and broken. The genocide option was based upon Old Covenant methods. Those who had lost their spiritual sword given to them on the day of Pentecost soon picked up the physical sword. As for the broken treaties, the Bible shows how God judged Israel after King Saul had persecuted the Gibeonites with whom Joshua had made a treaty. (See 2 Sam. 21:1.)
From 1901-1906 God reinstated Pentecost which had been largely lost for many centuries. But in 1910 Pentecost was denominationalized, once again fulfilling the story of King Saul, the Pentecostal. Thus, God brought judgment upon America by placing us once again under a Babylonian occupation. It came in the form of the Federal Reserve Act, signed into law in February of 1914. This was 2,520 years after Babylon had become an empire in 607 B.C. after conquering Nineveh in 612.
Then in the 1930's our conquerors began dismantling the political and legal structure that had made America a Christian Nation. We began to be secularized, and that process is now nearly complete. In essence, this is a story of America's failure to establish the Kingdom of God on the earth.
But this should not be a surprise. We have simply followed the example of our predecessors in ancient Israel. The only real difference is that ancient Israel made their attempt during the Passover Age (from Moses to Christ), while America had made its attempt during the Pentecostal Age. Neither age was sufficient for the task, for the Kingdom of God can be established only under an anointing of the feast of Tabernacles.
The divine plan is bigger than any one nation, and for this reason we must raise our eyes to see beyond America (or any other nation). America's founders established a Christian Nation, according to Supreme Court Justice David Brewer in a ruling by the Supreme Court in the 1890's, Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, 143 U.S. 457. But it is self-evident that they failed to establish the Kingdom of God. The flesh will always fail in the end. Only a remnant ever avail themselves of the divine opportunity given to men and nations.
There is yet coming a new thing that God will establish in the earth. It will not be established by the limited anointings of Passover or Pentecost, but the fullness of the Spirit inherent in the feast of Tabernacles. The first two feasts have had their day, their respective ages, in which to work. Now we are coming into that third day.
To prepare for that day, we must broaden our vision. We must see beyond Pentecost. We must see beyond nationalism that is based upon self-interest. We must see the limits of patriotism by which many worship the state above God. We must understand the difference between the Old and New Covenants, lest we think that the Kingdom of God can be established by the physical sword.
We must see creation itself as God sees it, and we must love His creation as He loves it. We must know the mind of God by studying ALL Scripture and by hearing His voice as the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. We must learn how to function as God's impartial judges in the earth, for this is how men must rule and reign with Christ. Only in this way can we fulfill the Abrahamic calling to be a blessing to all families of the earth.
