Chapter 15

The Confusing Thing about Canaan

In Deut. 7:22, God said that He would “clear away these nations” a little at a time after Israel took the land of Canaan. Then we read of the manner in which this would be done:

23 But the Lord your God shall deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion [huwm] until they are destroyed.

The Hebrew word huwm means to put into motion, disturb, cause confusion, make uneasy, or make a commotion.

It carries a similar meaning as Babel, or Babylon, “confusion.” To me, this implies that the destruction of the Canaanites is accomplished by God turning them over to the confusion of the Babylonian system which they have desired to follow. In other words their own system, when it reaches its end, judges them or corrects them.

Everything that seems good in the reasoning of men is proven by its results. Proverbs 14:12 says,

12 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

We read further in Prov. 8:36, speaking of the wisdom found in the law of God, “all those who hate me love death.” Of course, those who despise the law of God do not realize that they “love death,” for they do not believe that the law promotes life (Deut. 30:19). The ways of man, however, are being revealed even today as promoting death.

Seed companies make sterile, hybrid seeds. Pesticides and other chemical pollutants cause genetic mutations that often result in homosexuality, which is then first excused, then promoted, and finally glorified. Discipline at home and in schools is curtailed, promoting rebellion and violence in the streets and in the schools. Pornography is made a right of free speech, and then legislators and law-enforcement officials are overwhelmed by sexual violence as American culture is degraded.

Babylon's laws promote confusion, commotion, and disturbance, and we are now eating the fruits of Babylon's confusion. When the fruit is fully eaten, and our stomachs are upset, then men seek alternative answers. It is our job as overcomers to give them the answer. It is not merely to accept Christ so that we may continue in sin, but to accept Christ as King and Lawgiver, agreeing to promote His laws, His Kingdom culture, and His way of life.

Too long, Christianity has limited itself to the personal relationship with Christ. It is time that we understand that Jesus Christ did not establish Christianity but the Kingdom of God. Our forefathers understood this and came to this country with the intention of establishing a Christian culture.

They failed in many ways, of course, because many did not understand the law of God in its New Covenant application. Certain enemies of Christ then crept in, posed as Christians, graduated from seminaries, and gradually took over the leadership in mainline denominations. These took the concept of the Kingdom and turned it into a “social gospel” that had the appearance of doing good, but which rejected the law of God and His promotion of life.

Dispensationalist Views Emerge

At the same time, the Dispensationalist view of prophecy arose (1850's), which instilled an escapist mentality into the Church, causing many to cease their efforts to establish the laws of God. This view said that the Babylonians would win the fight, and that God would take the Church out of the earth. What is the point of turning the earth into the Kingdom of God when God was going to destroy it anyway? So they argued, not knowing that God intends to cover the earth with His glory, as the waters cover the sea.

The Church does not yet fully appreciate the divine plan, because so many have been blinded by Dispensationalist eschatology. This was the main escapist mentality that caused the Church to withdraw from political leadership and to stop promoting Kingdom culture. This escapist mentality was accompanied by lawlessness, which caused most Christians to stop studying the law of God. Without the law of God, there is no Kingdom culture to establish in the earth. Thus, these two factors caused the Church to lose the fight against Babylon.

After the Pentecostal renewal in the early 1900's, the true believers shunned politics and left it to the promoters of Babylonian law. True Christians largely held a siege mentality, and they hunkered down in their fox holes, waiting for the Rapture, while being bombarded with Darwinism, Socialism, and Bankerism. These ideas were almost unopposed throughout the rebellious heyday of the 1960's.

The Church Fights Back

Then, as America neared its bicentennial in 1976, the legalization of abortion in 1973 jolted the Church into action. They began to wake up to America's roots as a Christian Republic and realized that while they had been seeking safety in their bunkers, they had lost their country. Jerry Fallwell established his “Moral Majority” movement, anti-abortion groups rose up to demonstrate, and soon Christians had great influence in the Republican Party.

The political fight then began in earnest in the so-called “Republican Revolution” of 1994. America became deeply divided between the Christians and the Babylonians. The problem was that the Babylonians had prepared well for this fight by importing as many non-Christians as possible to dilute the Christian vote.

But a new century is now upon us, and the bitter fruits of Babylon are increasingly evident. We are fast approaching the Day of Reckoning, which will determine the future of America--and also the whole world. I believe that the day is ours, for “it is written.” Because the Church is largely helpless to overthrow its Babylonian masters, God has raised up China and all of the BRICS countries to help us overthrow Babylon. The 120 million Christians in China have prayed for their nation for decades, and their prayers are bearing fruit. China is playing a unique role in the divine plan, for it is the main leader of “the kings of the east” (Rev. 16:12).

The Double-Minded Church

Blindness still afflicts many Christians. But times are changing. Their very lawlessness is correcting them, as Christians realize that they do not want to live under the death-promoting laws of Babylon. They are yet in a confused state, being told on one hand that the divine law was put away, and on the other hand that they are to replace Babylonian law with Christian law. As yet, most do not see the inherent contradiction in their belief system, so they remain double minded.

For this reason, God has called the overcomers to take the lead and to lay the true foundations for the manifestation of the Kingdom of God in the earth. The overcomers, by biblical definition, are those who love God and His culture of life, while opposing Babylon's culture of death and lawlessness.

Throughout this fight, we have been living through the same pattern as Israel experienced in the land of Canaan. As with the Canaanites, God has promised to destroy the Babylonians little by little—not all at once. The main difference is that under the Old Covenant those Canaanites were subject to the physical sword, whereas under the New Covenant the Babylonians are overcome by the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

In other words, most of today's Babylonian citizens are destined to become citizens of the Kingdom of God. But first, they must repent of their rejection of Christ as King of the Nations. They must understand that the laws which Jesus Christ gave to Moses define His will and form the basis of Kingdom culture. But this conversion will not occur on any large scale until the Church itself stops teaching lawless nonsense that undermines the Kingdom of God.

The Church will not repent of its lawlessness “until the Spirit is poured out upon us from on high” (Is. 32:15). Therefore, we engage in spiritual warfare and intercession to prepare the way for the Holy Spirit's “rain.” Verse 18 says, “Then My people will live in a peaceful habitation, and in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places.”

This is the fruit of Kingdom culture when Christ is King.
