Isaiah 59:19 KJV says,
19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood [nahar], the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard [nasas] against him.
The “flood” in this case is nahar, “river” that overflows its banks, causing a flood. Bullinger says about this: “like a flood, the Nile in its overflow.” That seems to be the picture that the prophet was trying to paint.
The word nasas, “standard,” is from nus, “to flee, escape.” The word nasas is also the root word used in Exodus 17:15, “The Lord our Banner” (Jehovah-nissi). Perhaps the word signifies that this raised banner, or standard, causes the enemy to flee. Another way to look at it is that by raising up the banner, we are able to escape the enemy onslaught as it comes in like a flood.
The verse above has had many applications throughout history, each in its own context. God has revealed Himself as a Banner or Standard to those who call upon Him for protection. Jehovah-nissi is one of ten variations on the overall name of Jehovah.
In a financial context, as it is being currently revealed, the standard that God is establishing is a gold standard, based on God’s money. In Haggai 2:7, 8 we read,
7 “I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,” says the Lord of hosts. 8 “The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,” declares the Lord of hosts.
Gold does not corrode. It looks the same after a thousand years have passed. Yet James 5:2, 3 tells us about the rich people of the earth,
2 Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth eaten. 3 Your gold and your silver have rusted…
How does gold rust? It rusts through fiat currency, where value is corroded over time. We call it “inflation,” referring to the increased amount or currency that it takes to buy the same items. It is actually “deflation,” however, because the value of the currency is steadily reduced over time. Instead of thinking in terms of products costing more and more, we should reverse our thinking to see currency rusting and corroding in value.
For example, today’s US dollar is only worth 2% of what it was worth in 1913 when the Federal Reserve Act was passed. Every new Federal Reserve Note steals a little value from all of the notes previously created. Theft is built into the very nature of modern fiat currency, especially as it is cut loose from a gold (or asset) standard.
James 5:3 goes on to say, “It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!” Verse 5 says, “You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.”
He was speaking of judgment upon their wealth “in the last days,” which he then calls “a day of slaughter.” James lacked the terminology to tell us how this would happen. Nonetheless, it is a prophecy that is applicable to the financial world today.
During the Babylonian era (ending in 2017), fiat money ruled the world through finances. Since then, however, a new financial order has been rising. God has raised up the BRICS nations to split the financial world by rejecting fiat money and by moving toward a gold standard. Their goal is similar to what God is establishing, but it is not being done by Kingdom-minded people. So their asset-backed system will not be the final form that is coming.
The leaders of the BRICS nations are doing well by accumulating gold for the new financial system that they are establishing. However, they do not recognize God’s claim on gold and silver. Hence, their system is not truly a Kingdom financial system. Nonetheless, God is using them to move us in the right direction and to overthrow the oppressive Babylonian debt-money system that has enslaved the world.
This is a prime example of how God has use for everyone. God uses evil as easily as He uses good. And He uses everything in between as well. So it does not distress me to see an imperfect system rising. I only want to see what God is doing in the midst of the competing systems.
In my studies during the past 20 years, I have learned that since the days of Solomon, there have been Asian elders who have continued to mine gold in order to accumulate it for the time of the end. They don’t use biblical terminology, of course, but it is not hard to see that God is using them for a great purpose as well. Most of their gold is unregistered, so it is not counted in the western records of available gold.
A few years ago, I was told that the stars had aligned in a particular way, indicating that the time had arrived for the new “golden age.” This particular alignment was foretold thousands of years ago. I find it interesting that their records coincide with the end of the Babylonian rule. I suspect that their expectations in the East will eventually align with ours in the West. It will be interesting to watch how this develops.
