I first began to learn about timing (cycles) in the 1970’s through certain teachers who specialized in the well-known cycles in the Bible. They linked recent historical events according to cycles of 1260 days, 1290, 1335, as well as 666 days, etc. All of these cycles appear on the surface of the Scriptures, but relatively few people actually used these numbers to understand the events of the past century.
Time cycles link and correlate historical events, either to show a cause and effect or as a repetition of events. The time cycle itself helps to interpret that correlation, because the number has meaning. For example, if two events are 666 days apart (or a multiple of 666), then it can be related to Revelation 13:18 and 1 Kings 10:14.
Revelation 13:18 says,
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
1 Kings 10:14 says,
14 Now the weight of gold which came in to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold.
One must understand Revelation 13:18 in light of 1 Kings 10:14, for it shows how the second beast is financial in nature. It prophesied the rise of the modern banking system, which was designed to usurp power over gold—God’s money. If we dig down just a bit, using gematria, we see that the numeric value of the phrase, “and his number is six hundred and sixty-six” is 2368, which is also the gematria of “Jesus Christ” (888+1480 = 2368).
In other words, the number of “a man” is 666, and that man is Jesus Christ, represented in the Old Testament by King Solomon, the “prince of peace.” (Solomon means “peaceful".) The problem is not gold but who controls it. Gold has been usurped by those who are empowered by the earth-beast in Revelation 13:11. These usurpers think of themselves as a collective messiah whose right it is to rule the earth through their financial system. Their unequal method is to hoard the gold for themselves and give the people unbacked fiat currency that is eroded daily through inflation.
Their time, however, has expired, and God is now redeeming all that was lost (temporarily). He is laying claim to all the gold and silver (Haggai 2:8) as part of His creation.
From Obscurity to Clarity
New Testament understanding always has its roots in the Old Testament. The main difference is that the Old Testament—based on types and shadows—is normally more obscure and is couched in physical terms. In the gospels, Jesus’ parables were extensions of Old Covenant methodology, because they were designed to reveal and hide at the same time. So Matthew 13:10, 11 says,
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries [secrets] of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.”
Clarity is progressive, and there are three main phases to consider. For example, the Passover lamb in Exodus 12:3 was explained to the Israelites only obscurely and in ritualistic terms. They were told that it would spare their firstborn, but little else (Exodus 12:26, 27). They were told to put the blood of the lamb on their door posts and lintels using a branch of hyssop—with no explanation.
They were told to eat the lamb with unleavened bread and bitter herbs (Exodus 12:8) with little or no explanation. The prophets later gave more hints, especially in Isaiah 53, where people might have related the Passover Lamb to the coming Messiah, but yet the prophet does not tell us this explicitly. It requires a New Testament understanding to get the fuller picture—and even then, it is not until the time approached the second coming of the Messiah do we gain further understanding in light of the two works of Christ.
I learned of the two works of Christ in July 1993, shortly after “Saul” died in May of that year. It was a major turning point in history as we began to transition from Pentecost to Tabernacles and from Saul to David. In my view, God trained me for 12 years (1981-1993) to give me a revelation of timing and to bring clarity to those principles in the law and the prophets that were previously obscure.
I take my calling seriously. Clarity is high on my priority list. To fulfill this mandate, I have to know the law, the prophets, and the gospels and epistles as well. My approach has to be wholistic and not selective. I must know the process of clarity from beginning to end. This is my goal. I do the best I can. How well I achieve that goal is for you to decide.
Obscure Time Cycles
Beyond the known biblical time cycles (1260, 1290, and 1335 in Daniel 12:7, 11, 12), there are more hidden cycles that are lesser known. In 1991 I made a trip to Alturas, California, where I spent a week with Lalo Cadona, learning the principles of Cursed Time (414), Judged Time (434), and Blessed Time (490). He also showed me what he had learned about chronology and how these time cycles applied throughout history.
I returned home and spent the next six weeks at the Arkansas State University library, searching out these things. I found a few mistakes in Lalo’s chronology, and when I made those corrections, the Scriptures suddenly opened up to me in a far greater way. Whereas Lalo had found only one example of Cursed Time (from Adam to the flood), I found six examples. The difference was that Lalo’s post-flood chronology was off in two major places, which then hid those other examples from him.
Nonetheless, his basic understanding of Cursed Time, Judged Time, and Blessed Time were absolutely correct, and I honor him for his pioneering work, without which I would not have been able to write Secrets of Time.
Incidentally, as soon as GKM moves to a new location and we obtain a new address, I will be printing an updated revision of Secrets of Time. It is now ready to go, but I do not want to print it with the old address.
Why God Created Time
Those who are spiritually aware know that time is an earthly phenomenon. Time has jurisdiction in earthly matters, but the spiritual realm stands above time and its limitations. We live in both realms at the same time, and this is why we must study prophecy. Prophecy is rooted in time, because it speaks of an earthly progression of events as well as its relationship with heaven.
Heaven rules over time and therefore retains sovereignty over the timing of all earthly events. In other words, everything on earth happens according to God’s pre-determined calendar. However, this is not as simple as it might seem. God’s calendar also includes delays. Delays are built in and are a function of time. Hence, delays are also subject to the sovereignty of God. Delays give the appearance of thwarting God’s sovereignty over time, but in the end we discover that the delays only caused events to occur at God’s appointed time.
Most people do not understand delays, because they are unaware of the difference between God’s will (thelema) and God’s plan (boulema). Paul defines thelema in Romans 2:18,
18 and know His will [thelema] and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the law.
In other words, when God says, “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Deuteronomy 5:7), this is an expression of His will. To violate this law is to violate His will. The Bible calls this a sin or trespass.
However, God’s will is distinguished from God’s plan in Romans 9:18, 19,
18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires [thelo, “wills”], and He hardens whom He desires [thelo, “wills”]. 19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will [boulema]?”
Men may resist God’s will (thelo, thelema), but it is beyond their capability to resist God’s boulema (plan). Paul explains this by showing the example of Pharaoh. The will of God to Pharaoh was “Let My people go” (Exodus 6:11). Then God hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that He would cause a delay and would not let them go until the appointed time.
In the end, Pharaoh had to let them go, because it was the appointed time. He released Israel precisely 430 years after God had made the promise to Abraham (Galatians 3:17; Exodus 12:41). If Pharaoh had let the Israelites go earlier, it would not have correlated with God’s precise calendar “to the very day” (Exodus 12:41).
By another calculation, Israel was released precisely 400 years after the birth of Isaac, Abraham’s “seed” (Genesis 15:13 KJV). Hence, Abraham was 70 when he received the covenant with God, and he was 100 when Isaac was born.
The point of all this is to show that the difference between God’s will and God’s plan is Time. We view such time as a delay. It takes an understanding of the sovereignty of God to see such delays in a proper light. Delays thwart the will of God, but they fit the plan of God perfectly. Pharaoh sinned by violating the will of God, but even this was caused by God who hardened his heart. In other words, it was built into the plan and in no way detracted from God’s sovereignty.
Delays, then, are a function of time, which is in turn the creation of God. God uses delays to teach us patience and endurance—both of which are functions of time. One cannot learn patience without experiencing time delays. Endurance is one of the main themes of the book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:36 says,
36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
One cannot learn endurance without experiencing delays. For this reason, God built delays into His plan. We chafe at delays, not realizing that God is instilling endurance in us through patience. Patience itself is a part of love (1 Corinthians 13:4). If we do not have patience, we are yet deficient in love. If we do not have endurance, how will we enter the promise of God at the end of our delay (wilderness journey)?
As trainees, God has given us the gift of time delays so that we might mature into sons and daughters of God. So let us give thanks to God, rather than chafe and complain, as did most of the Israelites who died without receiving the promise.
