The true coronavirus casualty count in China

All governments give themselves the right to lie. A conspiracy theorist is one who questions those lies, as if it is our patriotic duty to believe every official statistic and report.

China is no exception. If you go by their statistics, less than 500,000 people worldwide have contracted coronavirus, and only a few thousand have actually died. Really? First of all, most people in China and elsewhere have never been diagnosed, even if they had it. Secondly, in Wuhan province, most of the casualties were carted off to the crematorium without being officially diagnosed and entered into the statistics.

But there is another way to estimate the casualties. In China, everyone is required to register their cellphone with the government. In just 3 months, the number of cellphone users has dropped by 21 million people. Landline users dropped by 840,000. Where did they go?

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced on March 19 the number of phone users in each province in February. Compared with the previous announcement, which was released on Dec. 18, 2019, for November 2019 data, both cellphone and landline users dropped dramatically. In the same period the year before, the number of users increased.

The number of cellphone users decreased from 1.600957 billion to 1.579927 billion, a drop of 21.03 million. The number of landline users decreased from 190.83 million to 189.99 million, a drop of 840,000.

While this is not a fully accurate statistic, it is probably more accurate than the official figures.
