Darla had her hip replacement surgery this morning and came through it feeling great. Unless something unforeseen happens, I will be able to bring her home tomorrow afternoon.
When we got to the hospital this morning, we learned that the Minnesota Health Department had just sent out a notice that all elective surgeries should be cancelled due to the quarantines from the coronavirus. I don’t know if this is mandatory or just a strong suggestion, but the hospital itself had not yet made its decision to close down such “non-essential” surgeries.
It looks like Darla may have been among the final patients for the next few months. Also, Darla coughed once while being prepped for surgery, and so the doctors and nurses had to huddle up and decide whether or not they should go ahead with her surgery. (She had just gotten over a cold this past week.) Our discernment was that God had led us each step of the way, and so we did not think they would decide to cancel it. Sure enough, they got the mind of God on this!
Darla is doing well and is very happy to have had this done. She should have a full recovery and be back walking normally in a few weeks.
Thanks for all of your prayers.
The news is all good.
