Remember the horse that won the Derby and the Preakness and then broke his leg just before the end of the Belmont back in 1999?
Charismatic died last Sunday, February 19, while Storm Lucifer was hitting California.
As you may recall from our accounts, Charismatic represented Pentecost, winning two out of three races in the Triple Crown. We did not see how Charismatic could win the Triple Crown, but it sure looked like he would win right up to the last second. He was ahead to the end, but broke his leg just before the finish line and ended up in third place.
Perhaps there are implications to the horse dying at this time at the age of 21.
