The new Prime Minister, Haidar al-Abadi, has been given 30 days to form a cabinet and government. (No doubt the cabinet has already been formed in the past few weeks.) Maliki is livid and is threatening even military action, but it is clear that he has lost the support of his previous allies. He can only rely on the money he has stolen in past years to fund his personal militia.
“But who is Abadi? Born in Baghdad in 1952, Abadi was educated at the University of Baghdad and later received a doctorate from the University of Manchester in Britain. He lived in Britain for many years after his family was targeted by Saddam Hussein's Baathist regime. He was trained as an electrical engineer, but he entered politics after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.”
Recall that when Belshazzar was overthrown, Darius took the kingdom at the age of 62. Since Abadi was born in 1952, that would make him 62 years old.
Daniel 5:30, 31 says,
31 That same night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was slain. 31 So Darius the Mede received the kingdom at about the age of sixty-two.
This speaks volumes to me, because we were expecting Maliki-Belshazzar to be overthrown as pictured in Daniel’s prophecy. What are the odds that Abadi would be 62 years old this year?
It is not likely, then, that Maliki will succeed in returning to office for a third term, even with a 2,500-man personal militia at his disposal.
