A few years ago an Oregon man went to prison for having a pond on his property, because it contained rainwater that had fallen on his property--rainwater that the state claimed was theirs.
Now Maryland is taxing rainwater, giving a different excuse.

In 1965, disgusted by what he viewed as confiscatory taxation by the British authorities -- a supertax instituted by the Labor government was taking 95 percent of top earners' income -- George Harrison wrote a bitter song from the perspective of a maniacal tax collector:
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet. But even Harrison's "Taxman" never conceived of a levy on the weather, something currently being instituted in Maryland.
COMMENT: Every time men's governments do such stupid stuff, the Kingdom of God looks better and better.
