President Obama has come out in defense of the NSA, insisting that the mass surveillance of all telephone calls, emails, and all electronic use ought to be monitored and recorded for possible future use. He is paying for it in the polls:
President Barack Obama's approval rating dropped eight points from last month, according to a CNN poll released Monday.
The survey found that 45 percent of respondents approve of the president, while 54 percent disapprove. In mid-May, the numbers were essentially reversed -- 53 percent approved and 45 percent disapproved. Americans under 30 flipped by 17 points against Obama, according to the poll. Half of the respondents said they do not feel that he is honest and trustworthy -- a nine-point drop from last month....
The CNN poll found that 61 percent of people disapprove of surveillance efforts, while 35 percent said they approve.
Only 35% approve of Obama's support of the surveillance program. I suspect that most of these are Republicans. It sounds to me like Obama is changing his name to Barack O'Bush.
What does Diane Feinstein have in common with Dick Cheney? They both think Edward Snowden is a "traitor" for revealing the secret NSA's PRISM surveillance to the victims of that program. Once again, the right and left both seem to have one common goal--totalitarianism.
By the way, the underlying reason for this mass surveillance is to control through blackmail. The goverment agencies have already been doing this for decades on politicians to ensure that they continue the slide toward totalitarian rule by secrecy. Now they have expanded the program to include everyone--even ordinary citizens in foreign countries. Everyone who has ever watched pornography on the internet may now be subject to government blackmail, if the agencies wish to control them or alter their position on anything.
