A few months ago, we posted reports about a possible war with Iran in the wake of the planned Palestinian appeal to the United Nations for statehood on September 23. It looks like this plan was approved during Leon Panetta's October 3 visit to Tel Aviv, as the "war games" are now beginning.

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s October 3 Tel Aviv visit was used by Israeli hawks to convince the United States that it should green light the attack. Less than 10 days later, a fanciful terror plot involving a used car salesman was invented to implicate Iran and create the pretext for a military assault.
“In recent weeks, intense discussions have taken place in Israeli military and intelligence circles about whether or not to launch a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Apparently, the key question in the debate was how to ensure that the United States took part in the attack or, at the very least, intervened on Israel’s side if the initial strike triggered a wider war,” writes Patrick Seale of Gulf News....
Geopolitical experts have been consistent in their warnings that Israel was preparing to strike Iran this fall.
Back in July, 21-year CIA veteran Robert Baer told KPFK Los Angelesthat Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was planning an attack on Iran in September to coincide with the Palestine bid for UN membership.
What is really behind all of this? The problems really go back to about 1951, when Iran took control of their Abadon oil fields that had been controlled by the Anglo-Iranian Oil company (AIOC), now known as BP. They had discovered oil near Abadon, Iran in 1908. So in 1953 "Operation Ajax" was launched to overthrow the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and to replace him with Fazlollah Zahedi.
Popular discontent with the AIOC began in the late 1940's, a large segment of Iran's public and a number of politicians saw the company as exploitive and a vestige of British imperialism. [Persia/Iran was receiving only 16% of the net profits.] Despite Mosaddegh's popular support, Britain was unwilling to negotiate its single most valuable foreign asset, and instigated a worldwide boycott of Iranian oil to pressure Iran economically. Initially, Britain mobilized its military to seize control of the Abadon oil refinery, the world's largest, but Prime Minister Clement Attlee opted instead to tighten the economic boycott while using Iranian agents to undermine Mosaddegh's government. With a change to more conservative governments in both Britain and the United States, Churchill and the U.S. Eisenhower administration decided to overthrow Iran's government, though the predecessor U.S. Truman administration had opposed a coup.
Britain and the U.S. selected Fazlollah Zahedi to be the prime minister of a military government that was to replace Mosaddegh's government.
Operation Ajax was a joint operation between the American CIA and British MI6. We also find another interesting name appear as part of this in the Wikipedia:
The CIA sent Major general Normal Schwarzkopf, Sr. to persuade the exiled Shah to return to rule Iran. Schwarzkopf trained the security forces that would become known as SAVAK to secure the shah's hold on power.
This was the father of the general who led the Gulf War in 1991.
This British-American controlled government of Iran fell in 1979, and an Islamic Republic replaced it under the Ayatollah Khomeini. The Wikipedia continues:
"A generation of Iranians grew up knowing that the C.I.A. had installed the shah," Mr. Weiner notes. "In time, the chaos that the agency had created in the streets of Tehran would return to haunt the United States."
The administration of Dwight D. Eisenhower considered the coup a success, but, given its blowback, that opinion is no longer generally held, because of its "haunting and terrible legacy." In 2000, Madeleine Albright, U.S. Secretary of State, said that intervention by the U.S. in the internal affairs of Iran was a setback for democratic government. The coup d'état was "a critical event in post-war world history" that destroyed Iran's secular parliamentary democracy, by re-installing the monarchy of the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, as an authoritarian ruler. The coup is widely believed to have significantly contributed to the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which deposed the pro-Western Shah and replaced the monarchy with ananti-Western Islamic Republic.
In other words, the unforeseen consequences of Operation Ajax was that it destroyed democracy in Iran and caused widespread resentment against the US, paving the way for the Ayatollah Khomeini to institute an Islamic Republic in 1979.
Hence, America turned to Iraq and supported Saddam Hussein, sending them nerve gas and other war materiel which were later used to claim that he possessed "weapons of mass destruction." A war was fomented between Iran and Iraq in 1980, which lasted 8 years at the cost of over a million young men.
It was at this point (Feb. 26, 1988) that God gave me a word to engage in spiritual warfare to put an end to that war. The revealed reason was that if it were not stopped, America would intervene, and we would send a half-million troops to the area.
We were given 5 months to prepare for this warfare. All of the prayer support had to be in agreement by July 26, 1988, but the battle itself took place on August 2/3. As a result, on the very day that 153 prayer warriors came into agreement (July 26), Iraq began to withdraw its troops from Iranian territory that it had occupied (around Abadon). Within a few weeks they reached an agreement.
The prayer campaign, however, was held on August 2/3, and these dates were a mystery until two years later when Iraq invaded Kuwait on the night of August 2, 1990. We ended up sending a half-million troops to the Gulf to free Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.
The problem was that God had called a particular church denomination to agree with us in prayer in our warfare of 1988. They declined to do so. The Lord said that if they would agree, then this conflict would be cancelled fully. If they declined, we could still do the warfare, but our victory would be temporary. The best we could do would be to postpone the inevitable. As it turned out, the war was postponed exactly 2 years.
I told this story more fully in my booklet, The 1986 Vision of the Two Gulf Wars.
The main spiritual force behind all of this is the Prince of Persia (Daniel 10:13). John gives us his actual name in Rev. 9:11. In Greek it is Apollyon; in Hebrew it is Abaddon. Take note that the oil field and refinery that was being fought over was at Abadon, located at the north end of the Persian Gulf.
To be continued.
