Here is an email I received from Troy, who lives in New Zealand.
Just thought I would let you know that one of the outcomes of the Christchurch quake has been the exposing of sandy foundations under many of the suburban houses. These homes have experienced a curious upwelling of large sand deposits through their gardens and foundations - a result of the sandy sediment deposits washed down from the Southern Alps over the mellenia. It has brought into doubt the long term stability of many houses which are now thought to be at risk of subsiding.
The connection with the name 'Christ' and the word 'church' gave me cause to think of that passage about building one's house on sand or rock and the consequences of whatever choice you make.
Also, Christchurch is an actual cathederal city in accordance with that particular demarcation afforded certain European and British cities through the years, The cathederal in Christchurch is Anglican and was virtually unscathed at first glance.
Matthew 7:26, 27,
26 And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall.
Selah.
