I have written in the past that the American government is going in the direction of China insofar as its "freedom of religion" policy is concerned.
In other words, freedom of religion is only allowed in state-sponsored churches. Even then, government officials monitor the meetings to make sure that they say nothing disapproved by the government.
It seems that Gilbert, Arizona has banned all home meetings by city ordinance. In that city, it is only lawful to meet in church buildings (where such meetings can be monitored more easily by state officials). It looks like those city fathers are thinking ahead, anticipating the day when they can have greater control over religious and spiritual principles being taught .
