This article draws a parallel between the Asian tsunami of Dec. 26, 2004 and the current "financial tsunami".
I find it interesting for a number of reason:
1. From the Asian tsunami to the problems with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are 1290 days, an interesting number for "tribulation" found in the last verses of Daniel.
2. Fannie Mae was established by the government in 1938, which is precisely 70 years ago. It appears to be another 70-year Babylonian cycle, having a beginning point in 1938. Up to now, I had not thought of looking beyond 1936 as a beginning point for the modern Babylonian captivity.
3. Last August, just as the sub-prime mortgage problem began, most people did not really take it all that seriously. We held a yearly conference here last August as well, and had noticed that the weather seemed to speak prophetically each year at that time. Well, last August we suspected it would rain, and it did. In fact, one town in Minnesota got over 15 inches of rain in 24 hours. It set a new state record. The old record was 10.84 inches in 24 hours.
4. About the same time last year the movie Evan Almighty was released, which spoke of a flood to come. In the movie, everyone got on board the "ark" and was saved. The flood served to bring change to the government. Perhaps that is what we will see ultimately with the current financial tsunami.
